A letter from the School Board Chair:
Yesterday evening, Tuesday January 19, 2016, the School Board met to discuss the search process for a new, permanent Superintendent.
Selection and hiring of a Superintendent is one of a school board’s most important jobs. The School Board carefully considered whether or not it needed the support of a consultant in this search for a district leader. The board agreed that on behalf of our high-performing district of roughly 1,600 students, it wanted a professional partner. Therefore, a short-term subcommittee of three board members was created to focus exclusively on gathering information and reviewing proposals from several consultant firms. That subcommittee will make a recommendation to the full board at its January 26 workshop.
The board hopes to engage the services of a search consultant firm directly after the January 26 workshop, with the goal of advertising the Superintendent position in early February. The board anticipates appointing a screening committee, consisting of a wide range of stakeholders, to screen applications by mid-March. The School Board’s goal is to hire the district’s next Superintendent by late April in anticipation of a July 1 start.
